Pickl, the burger brand that began in Dubai, has opened its first restaurant in Oman, at Souq Al Madina in Muscat. GCC Business News reported the launch on 23 May 2026. The outlet sits next to BonBird, the fried-chicken brand from the same parent company, Yolk Brands, and was opened with the same local partner, MENA Foods & Investments, which had brought BonBird to the sultanate earlier.

The restaurant is compact. It has a 45-square-metre indoor dining area and 155 square metres of outdoor seating, with room for 36 guests inside and 56 outside, according to the report, which describes it as a community-focused space for casual dining and neighbourhood gatherings. The menu is Pickl’s full offer: smash burgers, chicken sandwiches, loaded fries and house-made sauces. The first 100 customers received giveaways and merchandise, and Pickl said delivery through Talabat would be introduced soon.

One parent, two brands, one partner

Yolk Brands says its Pickl and BonBird restaurants number more than 50 across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan and Oman. Pickl itself opened in April 2019 at One JLT in Jumeirah Lake Towers, Dubai, according to Wikipedia. The company told GCC Business News that the Oman launch reflects a focus on long-term regional growth in what it called an increasingly competitive fast-casual market.

Stephen Flawith, Yolk Brands’ founder and chief executive, said “Oman has been an exciting market for us,” and described bringing Pickl to Muscat as a natural next step after the BonBird launch. Tahir Al Balushi, chief executive of MENA Foods & Investments, said the relationship with Yolk had grown steadily since BonBird and that Pickl was a brand his company had long admired.

Traffic in both directions

Regional chains such as Pickl are arriving in Muscat through local operators, while Omani fast-food brands are heading out: in May, two Seven Fries branches opened in New Delhi and three master franchise agreements were signed for Omani brands, as our report on Omani restaurant brands signing franchise deals abroad explains.

That pattern of a global or regional name arriving with a local partner is the subject of our analysis of the franchise pipeline connecting London, Dubai and Riyadh. The Muscat report gives no sales figures or further Oman targets for Pickl, so how far Yolk takes the brand in the sultanate is not yet clear.
